Hi Isaac, CP, p.237, shows two alternative pedigrees for William d.1221 overseas (who we have as this one's father), but says the Dugdale one is wrong. The article you cite seems to be about a son of William d.1221, but Round says he died 1236, and CP says 1224. It seems there were 4 Williams who were Earl of Arundel in a row.

Is there an error in the lines of descent for the various William d’Aubigny (Albini, Aubeney) described here on Wikitree; or here in the British National Biography by Round?

https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Albini,_William_de_(d.1236)_(DNB00)

My understanding is there is a line of three consecutive Williams descended from Main d’Aubigny by Adelaide de Bohun, ending in William d’Aubigny d.1236, the Magna Carta surety baron. (With William ‘Brito’ who m. Cecily Bigod, and d.1155; followed by William ’Meschine’ who m. Maud FitzRobert de Clare, and d.c. 1168; though I am not 100% sure of this!) and this is NOT the same line of William d’Aubigny(s) who descend from Roger d’Aubigny 1036-1084, which marries into Queen Adeliza of Louvain, and Maud St. Hilary etc. Is it?

What is the relationship between Main and Roger?
