Biography

Although born in Massachusetts, Minnie's birth was not recorded in that state. She was age 1 in 1870, living in Cambridge with her parents Matthias and Melvina.^[1]Her family returned to Prince Edward Island sometime later in 1870. Minnie was age 12 in 1881. ^[2]

Minnie, age 18, married George Newton in 1888.^[3]

In 1900, Minnie said she was born in April 1868.^[4]

Minnie died in Massachusetts in 1918.^[5]

Research Notes

Since Carrie is in the Massachusetts birth records, and Minnie is not, and Minnie appears in census records with the family, but Carrie does not, it seems likely that the daughter registered as Carrie was later called Minnie by the family, and she was born in April 1869 in Cambridge, Mass.
