Biography

Born: Bethuel Brumbly was born on December 22, 1737 in Preston, New London, Connecticut.[1] He was the son of William Bromley and Judith Van Schaik.[2]

Christening: Bethuel was christened on March19, 1738 at the First Congregational Church In Preston, Griswold, New London, Connecticut.

Marriages: Bethuel was married to

(1) Arabellah Herrick,
(2) Susanna Weller, and
(3) Lydia McCleveland.[2] [3]

Corporal Bethuel (Bromley) Brumbly served with 6th Connecticut Provincial Regiment (1775), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

1776 Corporal Bethuel Bromley served also as a Private, and a Drummer, in Captain Ebenezer Witter's Company on the Lexington Alarm; for Captain John Tyler, in Colonel Samuel Holden's Regiment; served in Captain Stephen Calkins' Company, for the State of Vermont in the American Revolution. DAR Ancestor # A014814. Bethuel marched on Lexington Alarm (May 8, 1775) with Colonel Parsons' Regiment - - the first battle of the Revolutionary War.[4][5][6] He served in various units of the Connecticut Militia, Provinical Troops and the Vermont Militia from 1775 to 1780. [7]

1778 Revolutionary War Rolls: "A pay Role of A Detachment under the Command of Captain Stephen Calkins for service don to Assist Major Witcom November 1778 Made up at Two Pounds ten shillings per Man per Month" Listed is Private Bethuel Bromley, enlisted November 10, 1778; discharged November 13, 5 days in service, paid £0.8.4. [8]

Lastly, for a short time in 1788-1789, Bethuel served in Ira Allen's Regiment, Vermont Militia.[9]

Residence: 1785, 1788, 1790, 1800, Danby, Rutland, Vermont.[10][11][12][13]

Death: Bethuel passed away between 1808 and 1816 in Danby, Vermont, USA. His place of burial is unknown.[14]
