I was not following the flow of thought in your comment. Part of that maybe due to my not correcting the date of birth after adopting the profile. This James was born 1707 not 1701. So I think we are unable make a connection to James (b. 1679)?

The Haverhill Vital Records, gives this profile's James Saunders, as born 11 July 1707. James Saunders b. 1707 is the fifth great grandfather of Adrian Stanley.

I've deleted my previous comment lest it lead anyone astray.

The material of the Sanders Siftings #49 article erroneously attributes the James this note is attached to as James (3) as the son of James (2). The editor does not address the 1707 James, son of John in the article. He does mention that "town records do not record the parentage of James (3). Nevertheless, circumstantial evidence of sufficient weight to be conclusive connects James (3) to James (2)." I wholly disagree with the article for the following reasons:

1. A junior in colonial times did not necessary mean father/son. In this case, James Jr. referred to the fact his Uncle James was still living close by. 2. James (2) administered the estate of James (3) because his father John was already dead. 3. The land records do infer familial relationships, but they do not overtly do so unless specifically stated in the record. 4. As Adrian Stanley on Wikitree pointed out, there is a birth record for James (3) being the son of John.

James (3) being the son of James (2) is absolutely fiction.
