Biography

Blanche Marie Osborne was born October 21, 1896 in Falls Creek PA, the second child of James Moffatt and Susannah Neal Osborne. Two male infants were born after her and both died in infancy. A sister Phyllis joined the family for 7 years and another little sister, Clarice Etta for 4 years. She relocated with her parents and older sister Zelma to Johnsonburg, Elk, PA where her father took an assignment with the railroad. In 1911, brother James Neal Osborne was born. Tragedy struck in 1918 when Zelma died in her 8th month of pregnancy. Previous to that, she had met a recent arrival from Johnstown, Roy B. Constable and at the end of April,1917 found it HIGHLY suggested that the two marry. Their first daughter Jaretta was born in early December. Blanche and Roy raised 5 children through the Depression. Blanche made some money as a 'beauty operator' and later did the book-keeping for her husband's store. Blanche survived Thyroid cancer in the 1950's.
