Hi Linda,

To fix this accidental duplicate, it needs to be merged into the accurate one. To do that, make a note of the Wiki ID of the accurate profile. You can find it at the top of the profile. It has the formate Surname-####. Once you have that number, come to this profile page.

  • Scroll all the way to the bottom
  • In the Matches & Merges section, click the "initiate a merge" link
  • a new page will open with this profiles Wiki ID already filled in to the first box
  • put the correct Wiki ID in the second box and click Merge
  • a new page will open with a warning that the surnames do not match
  • type a note about it being a duplicate profile
  • follow the prompts to complete the merge

If accidental duplicates happen in the future, merge them rather than anonymized them. Please let me know if you have any questions,

Thanks for checking on me. My situation is that I want to transfer members of a tree that my brother created on Ancestry to Wiki Tree because it would be more accessible to my adopted daughter and her family members, whom the tree is for. So, there's enough research done for me to be able to create profiles, but I haven't posted anything on Wiki Tree yet. At this beginning point, it's overwhelming and confusing. My brother is new to Wiki Tree, so he doesn't have a lot to offer, but he's in favor of establishing profiles based on his research about that family.

It's still my goal to learn how to use Wiki Tree myself. However, if you are offering help to get me started, that would be great. I apologize if that's assuming too much.
