Biography

Grace Diana was born in 1873. She passed away in 1956. Grace Diana "Gracie" Staples was born on 29 September 1873 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine to Gilman and Mercie (Stockbridge) Staples.She died on 1 May 1956 at the age of 82 in Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine, after a long illness. Mrs. Johnson spent all of her life at Atlantic with the exception of the past winter when she made her home with her son, Oscar L. Johnson of Mountainville. She was a member of the Atlantic Baptist Church, Swan's Island.

Besides her son, Oscar L. Johnson, she is survived by two other sons, Royce F. of West Bath and Forrest of South Portland; a Daughter, Mrs. Thelma Ricker of West Buxton; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildsren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Atlantic Baptist Church, Swan's Island, Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery, Swan's Island. She was buried in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic.
