Myrtis Belle was born in 1903. She was the daughter of Roscoe Conklin Joyce and Mary Olive Smith. Mertis J. Colbeth, 79, died March 29, 1983, at her home on Swan's Island. She was the wife of the late Elden Colbeth. She was born at Swan's Island, July 13, 1903, the daughter of Roscoe and Mary (Smith) Joyce. For many years she belonged to Atlantic Baptist Church Ladies Aid Society. She was a Sunday School teacher and superintendent, clerk and organist of Atlantic Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mary Johnson of North Kingston, R.I.; one son, Arthur Colbeth of Bass Harbor; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, James "Bradley" Joyce of Atlantic; several nieces and nephews and many cousins. Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Baptist Church, Swan's Island, with the Rev. George Springer officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the Atlantic Baptist Church, from 9 - 11 a.m. Thursday. Those who wish may make donations to the Atlantic Baptist Church in Myrtis' memory. Arrangements by Fernald Funeral Chapel, Mount Desert. She was buried on 31 March 1983 in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic.
