1850 Census, North Berwick, Maine: [17] [18] Stephen age 68 and wife Lydia (Grant) Ford age 65 are living in North Berwick, Maine. Stephen is a farmer and owns real estate. Also living in the home are (See lines 20 -25): son Stephen Ford Jr, age 35, farmer; daughter Sarah Ford, age 25; Lorenzo Ford, age 13, grandson, their son of Isaiah (see line 38); Fanny Goodwin, age 46. Research Notes

  • Birth Record, Death Record, and Burial Place are required. Dates entered above taken only from "The Valley of the Shadow." Place of Birth is taken from son Stephen and daughter Sarah's death records.
  • Children's birth records required.
  • As of 13 May 2024, there is a warning that Stephen's mother died in 1780 prior to his birth. Their is every possibility that one or both dates are incorrect. However, the 1780 date appears on a Sons of the American Revolution Membership Applications, under Caleb Ford's approximate wedding date. [25]
  • Maine was part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until 1820, when it voted to secede from Massachusetts to become a separate state. North Berwick was set off from Berwick in 1831. It is common for someone born in the part of Berwick which would be come North Berwick to have North Berwick recorded as a birth place on their death record. [26] [27]
