I am more adept at genetic genealogy. I love GEDmatch. I'm not good at editing, and not great on the GPS. Learning, but it is difficult for me because I have Executive Functioning and focus issues.

Biography

Rachel Stegman was born to Dr. Cary and Mrs. Shirley (Kunin) Stegman in Bremerton, Kitsap, Washington, USA on 10 October 1974. She has an older brother named Lauren Daniel Stegman who was born in Detroit, Michigan on 18 January 1972. Rachel was born in a Navy hospital in Bremerton where her dad did his residency after medical school.

The family moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 1976, and Dr. and Mrs. Stegman have lived in the same home until this day.

Education:

Rachel didn't take high school very seriously (to say the least), so she first went to Scottsdale Community College where she attained her AA degree and graduated with highest honors. She was also valedictorian.

Rachel then attended Lesley College (now Lesley University) for a couple of years. She also did an internship with Dr. Cornel West (where she also met Henry Louis Gates, Jr. on several occasions).

Unhappy at college, she took a leave of absence and became a professional dog walker on the streets of Boston.

Rather than returning to Lesley College, Rachel moved to the San Francisco Bay Area for 9 years, and she went into the circus industry as an Aerialist, artist and office manager, special events entertainment coordinator, and eventually a master aerial coach.

She opened Circus School of Arizona in 2007 and later CSA Arts & Entertainment (originally CSA Events). Circus School of Arizona was open for 13 years, but closed permanently in 2020 due to COVID-19.

Rachel has gotten the genealogy "bug" over the last couple of years, particularly the DNA/genetic component. Organization and the GPS are a challenge for her, but she is trying.

Rachel took the intensive intro course to genealogy online via Boston University.

Family:

Rachel has two wonderful multi-"racial," multi-ethnic children. Zev age 11 and Ayla age 9 as of 31 May 2022.

She married in 2009 and divorced in 2019.

Family Genealogy:

Rachel's kids have a spectacular heritage in Creole/Acadian/Melungeon/Black/African-American/Muscogee Creek Nation/French/Scottish, etc. with very notable people in these groups. Rachel's side is 100% Jewish, mostly Ashkenazi, but also some Sephardic and Mizrahi.
