Teri. Two comments.

One. Your grandfather apparently is Thomas Edward Appleby (11 Feb 1889-1995). It appears that his father (and therefore your great grandfather) was Edward Harrison Appleby (11 Feb-1970). The data entered may be incorrectly stated, since your apparent grandfather and apparent great grandfather were twins, born the same day. Question. Where in Pennsylvania were these people living? Do you know? My record of Appleby ancestors places my Appleby's mostly in Western PA in and around Greensburg (Westmoreland county) and Ohio (in and around Akron). Comment Two. My Appleby family records show a William "Billy" Appleby (1872-1925), husband of my grandmother Alice Mae Stockdale married in Youngstown (in Fayette County, PA, I believe) in 1897 and living in Greensburg PA until they separated. Billy's parents were William Appleby (born in the 1830's; died 1904) and Catherine Cahill Appleby (about 1830 something -1905) . Billy's siblings were John Appleby (1857-1947), Elizabeth Appleby Bailey (1860-1914), Joseph Appleby (1863-1904), Mark Appleby (about 1866-1885), Teressa "Tess" Appleby Taylor (1869-1950). These Appleby children emigrated from Yorkshire England in the 1870's to the coal mines of Westmoreland an Fayette Counties in Pennsylvania. More of their ancestors and descendants can be found on the Appleby-Napoli-Beaulieu tree which is kept up by my nephew John Appleby. If you see any connection between our family and yours, you can contact John Appleby to have him put you on the Trusted List so you can have access to the incredible tree which he has assembled. He lists our tree on Ancestry.com and also (I believe) on MyHeritage. If you have any more questions, my email is [email address removed] David Appleby

Thank you for pointing out my mistake. I have corrected it.

My great grandfather Edward was born in Dawson, Fayette County, PA. I'm not sure when he moved to Fairchance, Fayette County Pa but that's where he was living when my grandfather, Thomas Appleby was born. Thomas moved to Farmington, Fayette County Pa around the late 1940's and lived there the remainder of his life. Thank you for all the information you've given me!! I will be contacting your nephew.

Hi Teri,

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.

You mentioned that you don’t know much about your family tree yet. I assume you are new to genealogy. No problem! Every genealogist is a beginner at some point. Take your time, keep track of sources, and ask questions. Check here for tips.
