Biography

Anthony Dopping Esq was born in Ireland.

Anthony was christened 22 September 1714 in Killucan, County Westmeath, the son of Anthony Dropping and Dorothea Howard.[1]

He was matriculated into Trinity College, Dublin at the age of 15, on 21 October 1729 as one of the Fellow Commoners (Socii Comitates). He does not appear to have received a degree, though he was admitted to the Irish Bar in 1742.[2]

Anthony's first child, a daughter named Lucy, was born to Jane Parker of Lowtown and baptized 5 February 1753 in Killucan Parish. Anthony and Jane were unmarried at the time of her birth.[3]

He married Alice D'Arcy, daughter of John D'Arcy (abt.1701-1758) and Elizabeth (Judge) D'Arcy (bef.1710-1773) on 31 January 1756 in Killucan Parish, County Westmeath.[4][5] They had the following known children:

"Anthony Dopping inherited his estate – Culmullen and Lowtown – but also acquired lands such as Derrycassan adjacent to Lough Gowna, where the family was to establish its seat at Derrycassan House. The family also acquired property in the city and county of Dublin."[11]

Anthony died in July 1794 at his home in Lowtown, County Westmeath.[12][13]
