I started my family research journey back in 1974 when I was 13. My mentor was Grace Chadbourne-Snow of Baldwin, Maine. I'm interested in both paternal and maternal family lines of my family's history. As far as I know my first paternal ancestor to arrive in the American colonies was John Douglass who arrived in Massachusetts Colony and settled, married, and raised family in Middleborough, Massachusetts (b. Jan 1695, Scotland - d. 1788 Middleborough, MA). The circumstances of John's arrival, at a young age of 12-14, are not clear or verified.

His descendant, John Douglass, served the Colonies during the American Revolution. He was in Capt. Nicholas Blasdel’s 6th Co., of Col. Edward Wigglesworth’s 13th Mass. Regiment, of Brig. Gen. John Glover’s 2nd Mass. Brigade.

Biography

Graduated from Scarborough High School, Scarborough, Maine, U.S.A. in June 1980 Enlisted in the U.S. Army 17 July 1980 and went to basic training at Ft. Dix, NJ on 10 September 1980. Retired on 31 March 2005.

Earned B.A. in Political Science and Management at Western Carolina University in May 2007.

Earned Master of Business Administration at Thomas College Waterville, Maine December 2011.

Began working for the Veterans Administration 20 January 2008 and retired on 6 February 2018.
