I was born in County Durham the fourth child of my parents John Edwin Teasdale Davies and Maureen Hodgson. We moved to Stockport Cheshire when I was about two years old. I joined the Women's Royal Naval Service at 17 1/2 years of age, serving for two years at HMS Collingwood, Fareham, Hampshire where I met and fell in love with my very own Man of Kent. We married in February 1977 in Stockport Cheshire ( now part of Greater Manchester ). We have four children and seven grandchildren. I've been interested in genealogy since my maternal grandmother Jane Ann Pearson introduced me to several interesting relatives and passed on to me several items that had been awarded to her mother in law, my maternal great grandmother Annie Maria Sayer. I have two brick walls I want to solve before I hand on the genealogical baton to my son or my daughters. Firstly, my maternal great grandfather Thomas William Hodgson's father who was not named on his birth certificate, his mother was Ann Hodgson dau of Thomas Hodgson of West Auckland, County Durham and the second hurdle is on my paternal side, where my great grandmother Eliza Lee's father was recorded as George Lee, a journeymen tailor when she was born Sheffield 1864. Her mother was recorded as Eliza Barlow. It's so difficult when working with such a common surname as Lee. I'm hoping DNA cousin matches may help in time.
