Lemuel Stetson was born in 1797 ^[1] at Charlestown, Massachusetts. ^[2]. He was the son of Jonah Stetson and Elizabeth Vinal. ^[2]

He was Baptized, 1 Oct 1797 at Charlestown, Massachusetts. ^[3]

Married Margaret Ann Snow, ^[A] int. 12 Aug 1832 ^[4]; m. 4 Sep 1832 at Boston, Massachusetts. ^[5][4][6] (She dies in December 1863 ^[4])

Born in Boston, Lemuel lived in Charlestown (outside Boston) in 1844 ^[12] and 1848 ^[16]

In 1850 he was living in Charleston with his wife and 5 children, Emma F., William C, Margaret A., Mary K. and Ella E Stetson ^[17] then in 1855, at age 58, when he was living in Ward 1 Charleston with his wife and 6 children, Ema F., Margaret A., May H. Ell E. Cornelia W, and Isabella Stetson. ^[18]

In 1860 at age 62, he was recorded living in Newton, Massachusetts, with his wife, and 5 children, along with 3 boarders, including his Mother-in-Law Nancy. Post office was Newtonville ^[19]

Was a Ship's Captain, of the Brigg Aurora between Boston and Hamburg. ^[4] In 1844 listed his occupation as "Master Mariner," ^[12] and as "Mariner" in 1848 ^[16] He had apparently retired by 1850, listing none for occupation. ^[17] and "gentleman" in 1855. ^[18] and 1860 ^[19]

He died before 1862 and was originally buried in the Mount Auburn Cemeter, Cambridge, Massachusetts along with his wife, Mary. ^[20] Apparently his body was moved, along his wife and son William, to the Newton Cemetery, Newton Massachusetts. ^[21]
