Per an article in the Wayne County Herald from 30 November 1871:[11]
The Scranton Republican says, BENJAMIN SAMPSON, residing up the Starrucca creek, has become the happy and favored father of twins, weighing respectively seven and nine pounds, which would not have been strange had BENJAMIN not seen seventy and his wife fifty winters. ABRAHAM and SARAH! were you living what rivals you would have! Said SAMPSON was married for the second time, twenty-four years ago, and is the father of thirty children, including four pair of twins.
Benjamin Sampson was reported to be "energetic, thrifty, and public-spirited, always leading in anything that promised to advance the welfare of the community at large. At the time of his death he had a family of twenty-secen children, nearly all of whom still live at or near Starruca."[12]
In January 1877, Benjamin was reported to be ill.[13] He passed away on January 20th, 1877 in Pennsylvania at age 76 years and 6 months.[14] He was buried in Starrucca Cemetery in Wayne County, Pennsylvania.[15]
Blanchard (1871-before 1874) The twin of Blanche as per the 1871 article.
His Will
His will, dated 10 June 1874, was executed by his widow Olive A Sampson. [16] Per the will, she would receive all his real estate in Starrucca, livestock, furnishings etc until death or remarriage at which point the remainder went to his "three sons: Hector, Abram, and Lemuel, share and share alike, after paying to each of" his "daughters Kate and Blanch one hundred dollars each."[17]
