Peter Hayden Dinklage was born to John Carl Dinklage and his wife Diane in 1969. His father was an insurance salesman and his mother was a music teacher.
He grew up in New Jersey.
Dinklage was born with achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism.
Dinklage married Erica Schmidt in 2005, their first child was born in 2001.
Dinklage has been a vegetarian since he was sixteen.
Dinklage has had a varied acting career, working in film and television and also doing voiceover work for videogames and other media.
His film debut in 1995 was "Living in Oblivion" but his rise to fame truly began with "The Station Agent" in which his portrayal of Finbar McBride earned him nominations for 7 awards.
Dinklage is probably best known as Tyrion Lannister in HBO's Game of Thrones, a role for which he has received wide-spread recognition and acclaim.
