Biography

Circa 1714 -- John Napier Adams Jr. (III) was born in Stafford, now Fairfax County, Virginia.

John Adams Jr. III was listed in the Brent Town survey but was not on the 1724 tobacco tenders list. [1]

John Adams, spelled Addams in his will, signed his will on 20 March 1769 in Halifax County, Virginia which was probated 21 September 1769.[2] He named his wife Elenor as Executrix, she gave executrix bond with Benjamin Dickson and Joshua Powell as her securities. The following children received property in the will:

  1. William Adams
  2. John Adams
  3. George Adams
  4. Joshua Adams
  5. Elizabeth Adams
  6. Martha Adams
  7. Mary Adams
  8. Nipper Adams, not named, but in Halifax County records:

John Adams was born in 1709. He is the son of John Adams and Elizabeth Johns.[3]

[4] John Adams witness to deed February 14, 1742 Lawrence Redman of Fredericksville Parish, Louisa County to John Foster.

{LOUISA COUNTY WAS CREATED MAY 6, 1742 FROM HANOVER COUNTY}

[5] John Adams witness to deed August 3, 1743 William Harris of Brunswick to Stephen Harris of St. Martins Parish Hanover County, Virginia.

John Addams of Halifax, Virginia, bought land from his brother, William Addams of Lunenburg, Virginia, on August 28, 1760. He paid 15 pounds for 180 acres of land in Halifax County, Virginia, on both sides of Banister River at the mouth of Rocky Branch on Nowell Burton's line. His brother's signature was "Wm Adams." Deed recorded 19 February 1761.[6]

It clearly states in his brother's land records that they were from Louisa County.

Notes

By DNA matching on Ancestry.com, he and his wife Eleanor were the great-grandparents of my 4th great-grandmother, Charity Adams. I'm trying to identify Charity's parents, linking them to John.

John owned land on Sandy Creek (according to Will), a tributary to the Banister River. Named in his will, his children were: John, William, George, Joshua, Elizabeth, Mary, and Martha.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
