Biography
Margaretha Petronella Akkerhuijs was born in 1891. [1]
Margaretha married Hebe Stikkelbroek in 1916 in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands.[2] The couple moved to the Dutch East Indies.
There were three children born of the marriage:
- Theodora Huberta, born 1921
- Anton Leendert, born 1922
- Peter Hubertus, born 1924
Margaretha and Hebe divorced; Margaretha remarried Willem Neervoort in the Dutch East Indies.
World War II
After the surrender of the Dutch East Indies to the Japanese on 8 March 1942, Margaretha was interred as a POW. She entered Camps for women and children along with her adult daughter Theodora Stikkelbroek and grandchildren, and the young son of her second marriage, Wim Neervoort. (Her older sons by her first marriage, Anton Leendert Stikkelbroek (1922-1945) and Peter Hubertus Stikkelbroek (1924-1945), were interred in different camps, for teenagers and old men.)
She died in Kamp Lampersari-Sompok in Semerang in February 1945.[3]
