Biography

Edward's siblings were Richard born 1769, James born 1772, Charlotte born 1762 who married Dublin printer Brett Smith, Amelia who married Rowland Cooke, Alice, Elizabeth and Susanna.[1] Edward was married to Mary Grierson.[2]

19th November 1803 Lease to Edward Bagnall of Hawkinstown, Co Meath, the land of Cushenstown commonly called Portlester containing 54 plantation acres (87 statute) for 31 years (Book 558 Page 324 No 371897). This lease ties in with that of 1762 (13.5.1) in which William Bomford leased 87 acres to Richard Bagnall at a rent of £36.15.4. Edward Bagnall must be the son of Richard, who died in 1773, and his wife Ann. Some time later Edward Bagnall, or his son another Edward, moved to Wellington Lodge near Trim and died there on 13th December 1838.[3]

In 1831 Edward Bagnall was listed as of Hawkinstown, occupying house and lands in the townland of Hawkinstown, Barony of Upper Duleek.[4]

1838 - "Dec 13, at his residence Rathmines, Edward Bagnall Esq late of Lodge Park, County of Meath, aged 78, sincerely regretted by all that knew him."[5] [6]

In 1839 an Edward Bagnall Esq described as a mining engineer advertised for potential share holders in a mining operation for coal at the mount of the River Dee. [7] Was this a son?
