George Telesphore Bard

He is the son of Zephirin (Ephraim) Bard and Élizabeth Marie Roy (1831-1886)

He was the eighth of thirteen (16 ?) children.

His name is very often misspelled.

In 1861, age 2, Census Canada East (Quebec), District Name: Kamouraska, Sub-District Name: St. Paschal [1]

In 1871, age 13, Census Canada East (Quebec), District Name: Kamouraska, Sub-District Name: St. Paschal, listed as Philesphore among 11 children [2]

There are immigration records for Telesphore Bard in 1875, 1879, and 1889. It was common for Canadians to travel back and forth between the United States and Canada for especially for work.

In 1880 in Fall River, Mass, he is one of 9 children, age 23, listed as Thelesfort [3]. His father worked in a cotton mill and Thelesfort was a weaver.

Interesting that in 1881, Census Canada East (Quebec), District Name: Kamouraska, Sub-District Name: St. Paschal,he is one of 9 children, age 22, listed as Telesphore [4]

He was naturalized as an American citizen on October 26, 1892 in Fall River, Massachusetts. His birth date is shown as 14 Aug 1862 [5]

In 1900 she and her husband resided with children Eva, Albert and Roland and her mother and her sister's two children in Fall River [6]

In 1910 in Fall River, he and his wife and two children worked in cotton mills. The family included two other of their children. [7]

In 1920 in Fall River, he and his wife and 2 sons worked in cotton mills, her daughter was a salesgirl in a music store. [8]

1930 Fall River, he worked in a cotton mill, his daughter Eva, age 38, worked in a department store. [9]

His original baptismal record shows his name as George Telesphore, but all other records refer to him as Telesphore.

Godparents Pierre Roy and Arthenuse? Bard .. godfather no signature, signed Arthemise Bard .. signed by Priest ? "

Marriage

He married Marie Georgiana Leopoldine Alexina (Belisle) Bard (abt.1867-abt.1951) on April 21, 1891 in Fall River. Reverend George Lefebre officiated which means the ceremony was probably held at Saint Ann's. [13] [14] He was 29 and she was 24.

The Bard-Barde Notes Historique Repertoire De Mariages reports that Telesphore Bard married Lucy Gilbert. However, this is an error. Telesphore's brother Joseph married Lucy Gilbert in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Death

He died on March 19, 1933 in Fall River, Massachusetts. (Findagrave, needs source)

He was buried in Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River in Grave 8217, Row 11, Section 4E, Pass 16-17 - Find A Grave (obituary included) [15]
