Mary Jane Pollard Barnes was born on 7.4.1865 in Bowden, South Australia to parents Joseph and Jane Barnes (nee Pollard). She was their 3rd child and only daughter. She was baptised by Rev. R. C. Flockart in the Bowden Bible Christian Chapel.

Mary Jane married John Colwell on 26.3.1885 at Bowden, South Australia, Australia.

Children

Mary Jane and John had 8 children - Leslie Barnes, Lois Edna, Mabel Susan, Clarence Melville, Clifton Joseph, Myra Frances Jane, Vernon Bruce and Allan John.

Social

Mary Jane was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. She was a member of the church choir when young.
