Jane Baylis was baptized on 23 January 1852 in the parish of St. Mark the city of Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England, daughter of Samuel Baylis a plasterer and Sarah (Winmill) Baylis a laundress.
1861 the family lived at 55 Brothers Place, Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England, Jane’s father Samuel was a plaster and her mother Sarah was a laundress. Jane had 5 siblings; Amelia (1845), John (1851), James (1857), Francis (1859) Mary (1860).
1871 the family lived at 67 Alvin Street, Glouster, Gloucestershire, Samuel was a plasterer. Jane, William, Mary, Francis (Fanny) and James a labourer still lived at home.
1873 Jane daughter of Samuel Baylis and Sarah (Winmill) Baylis, married Henry Meadows son of Henry Meadows and Mary (Jones) Meadows on 14 April 1873 at St. Peter’s and St.Paul’s church in the parish of Aston, Birmingham, England. Henry’s occupation was a striker. Their marriage was witnessed by James Fogg and Sarah Elizabeth Sorrrel. Jane and Henry were living in Duddeston.
1881 Jane and Henry lived at 12 Columbia Street, Gloucestershire, with their sons Harry (6) born Gloucester, Jesse (5) born Birmingham, Earnest (3) born Derby and Arthur (8m.) born Derbyshire. Henry was still working as a striker at a wagon works. They were living with Janes’ brother James Baylis who was head of the household and his wife Elizabeth with their children William (5), Fanny ( 3) and Elizabeth Alice (1m).
1891 Jane and Henry lived at 35 Brumford Rd., Birmingham with their children, Harry (15), Jesse (14), Arthur (10), Laura (7), Albert Edward (5), Sidney(3) and Jennie (3m). Henry’s occupation was a blacksmith,
1901 Jane and Henry who was a joinery carpenter labourer lived at 40 Campbell Street, Birmingham, with their children; Arthur (20) a wood sawyer born Derbyshire, Laura (18) a French polisher born Swindon, Wiltshire, Albert (15) a wood joiner carpenter, machinist, born Birmingham, Sidney (13) a tin plate worker, born Aston, Warwickshire, Jenny (10) born Oldbury, Staffordshire and Minnie (5) born Aston, Warwickshire.
