Jane (Beatty) Steeves was born about 1774, daughter of John Beatty (1743 - 1787) and Jane (Woodworth) Beattey (~1740 - 1811).

Jane married John Steeves , son of Johann Jacob Steeves and Anna Catherine Lutes, in 1798. Their children were:
- Olive (Steeves) Horsman (1796 - 1875)
- James Steeves (1799 - 1869)
- Ralph Steeves (~1801 - 1874)
- Catherine (Steeves) Lutes (1803 - 1892)
- Deacon Israel Steeves (1807 - 1879)
