Robert Beaven was born on 20 Jan 1836 at Leigh, East Staffordshire Borough, Staffordshire, England.[1] He was christened on 7 Feb 1836 at Leigh, All Saints. He was the son of James Beaven, Curate, and Elizabeth Speed, and the ceremony was performed by Robert's father, who was an Anglican minister. They lived at the parsonage.[2][3]

In 1841, Robert lived with his parents, James and Elizabeth Beaven, and 5 siblings in the Leigh Rectory, Leigh, Staffordshire, England. [4]

On 5 May 1866, Susan Sibbald Ritchie, 26 who resided at Georgina, and Robert Beaven, 30 who resided on Vancouver Island, were married in York, Canada West. She was the daughter of Wm Ritchie and Anne Sibbald. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. William Ritchie, with J.R. Stevenson as witness.[5]

At the time of the 1881 Canada Census, Robert, Susan Sibbald, Hugo Robert, Willm James, and Kate Emily Beaven were listed as living in Victoria, British Columbia[6]. At the time of the census, Robert's occupation was listed as "Finance Minister M.P.P."

Robert Beaven died on 17 Sep 1920 at 626 Vancouver Street, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. His funeral was held on 20 Sept at Christ Church Cathedral.[7] He is buried at the Ross Bay Cemetery, Victoria, Capital Regional District, British Columbia.[1] You can see a picture of his grave monument at FindAGrave.
