Biography

The parents of this Thomas Beeson are presently unknown. Please read the Disambiguation Notice above. Also, please note that links to the Beeston line are proven false, the Beeston line died out (see short discussion at the boards.ancestry link in Sources), and were probably made simply to link to a Surety Baron via the link noted by Michael Stills in Comments in right Comments below the profile.

Name also found as Besson, Beason, Bezon, Beson[1]

Thomas Besson was married to Anne Pecke on 5 November 1635 at the church of St Mary de Castro, Leicester. [2] [3]

Accordingly, his birth date has been re-estimated to about 1610, as has Anne Pecke's.

Research Notes

It appears due to dates (and a lack of documentation) that there is likely a missing generation between this Thomas and the man Edward presently attached as son. It has been suggested we would be looking for a Thomson, son of this profile, who married a Mary and had the son Edward.

Another Thomas Besson was married on 18 February 1635/6 at Barkby, Leicestershire, to Isabelle Jelly. That Thomas Besson was from Thrussington, which strongly suggests that this one was not. Accordingly that birth location has been detached. Clearly, that Thomas and Isabelle would not have been the parents of this Thomas Besson.

There is a Thomas Beeson bap 22 Mar 1628 Baddiley, Cheshire. Father is Richard[4] but Cheshire seems unlikely given known records of son Edward.

Thrussington, Leicestershire (the location generally seen as place of birth) records prior to 1660 don't seem to be available electronically from the PRO and records after 1660 now appear to be a paid service providing printed copies of parish registers (or an in person visit). (See Note Above)

Regarding son Edward's birth, "The records of the parish of Thrussington in Leicestershire show that Edward Beeson, son of Thomas and Ann Beeson, was christened there February 24, 1660." Source[5] states: Louis Jones, Richmond, IN , generously provided copies of his research, done at the Company of Genealogists in London. (This is highly unlikely, given the recorded date of their marriage as 1635. ~~ Hacker-831)

The marriage record appears in various searches of indexes but with the date reading 1635. Transcription error or not the correct marriage record?

Phillimore Marriage Registers, Leicestershire Marriage Registers, Vol 2, Barkby Parish contains the marriage of Thomas Besson of Thrussington and Isabella Jelly of Barkby on 18 Feb 1635 image here is with subscription.

Thank you very much. Is there a profile for the other Thomas and/or Isabelle to which we can move the marriage record currently found as the last item under Research Notes?

Working on it. I've just edited Jelly-3 as the wife of the other Thomas. Still researching him to see if I can find birth or death dates for a profile. I distrust estimation. He was styled as a labourer, in a record I can't locate again.

The two Thomases are likely to have been kinsmen.

Katherine, what do you think about delinking William and Isabella as parents at the top of the profile but leaving them in the Disputed Parents section? That seems to be the current fashion at WikiTree where disputed parents have gone unresolved this long (the discussion thread top right goes back three years).

The lineage prior to this profile appears entirely unsourced and without merit. It would be nice to find a WikiTreer who could visit the PRO in question which seems the only way to see the needed records. Maybe post a request in G2G?

A basic question. If the only well-documented son was born "at the family home in Leicestershire" and his parents marriage is there, why is Thomas listed in Stoke, Cheshire? This profile is essentially unsourced. Links to the Beeston line are I believe proven false, the Beeston line died out (see short discussion at the boards.ancestry link to the left in Sources), and were probably made simply to link to a Surety Baron I think via the link noted by Michael Stills below.

This line is connected to Magna Carta Surety Barons via Ralph Neville-53. But it needs a lot of work, starting with documenting Thomas's Parents.

I've started the process of cleaning up a mass number of dupes of attached children. Noticed you had worked on this long ago. Is there any documentation for children other than Edward? Have now PPP'd the profile due to repeated re-introductions of undoc'd parentage.

Oh boy, sorry T, it has been too long, I barely recall doing this. I do not have any additional documentation. Thanks for tackling this again!

I've started the process of cleaning up the Jelly family. Jelly-3 will be the final profile. William Jelly-93 will have to be detached. Is there sufficient confidence in this identification of Thomas to attach him in William's place?

Lois, I'm not quite following your question. Attach this Thomas to someone? All that I have found is seen at ↑ https://www.genealogy.com/ftm/t/a/y/Fred-Taylor-Tacoma/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0199.html which was some research done in records not available (at least at that time) electronically.

Too many Williams. I meant to say that William Beeson-52 should be detached from Jelly-3. At the time I posted, I wasn't sure about this Thomas, but it now seems clear that he is NOT the spouse of Jelly-3 but rather Anne Pecke.

The proper LN btw seems to be Besson. For both Thomases. I suspect they could be related.

There are, it seems, two Thomases, one married to Isabelle, one to Anne. This one seems to be in fact the Thomas married to Anne, the date being 1635, not 1653.

We could use some good source info. Marriage date needs sourced.
