Biography

Carrie was born in 1861.[1] She married Frank Grindle, a carpenter from Orland.[2] Frank and Carrie had the following children[3]

1. Marion Grindle b. 1883. Was not living at home in 1900. [3]She married Ernest Bennett in 1901.

2. Florence b. 1890 who died in 1904. noted in census of 1900

3. Edith b. 1897 who married Alfred Weymouth. Noted in census of 1900

She died in 1940 [4], and I am unaware of her burial location.

Carrie Bowden's colorful ancestors included:

1. John Roundy Roundy-92 and his wife Elizabeth Rea Rea-1276, one of the two founding families of Blue Hill, maine. john Roundy's only son founded the Baptist Church in South Blue Hill, Maine.

2. a veritable Who's Who of Salem.

  • Capt John Putnam Jr and Joshua Rea, who along with Francis Nurse were on the committee of three that determined Reverend Parris should be the next minister after George Burroughs.
  • Roger Toothaker Toothaker-2, lay physician who was accused of witchcraft and died in prison awaiting trial;


3. Lydia Masters Masters-841, who was ruthlessly murdered by raiding Indians

4. Thomas Emerson, whose granddaughter Hannah Emerson Duston was the first American woman to have a statue erected in her honor. Thomas was also the grandfather of Joseph Emerson, the husband of Roger Toothaker's daughter Martha Emerson Toothaker, who was accused of witchcraft.

5. Black Sheep Catherine LeCornah LeCornah-1

6. . Hannah Willix, possibly the first cold case rape-murder case, whose story was fictionalized in book "the Strange Death of Mistress Coffin."

7.. Rowland Young Young-2866 and Edmund Littlefield Littlefield-17, early settlers of York, Maine
