Biography

Hans Jacob Brunner was probably born about 1690 (an estimate based on his marriage record). His parents are not known. He may have been born in Duttweiler where he married, but that is not certain.

On August 22, 1714, Hans Jacob Brunner, single, married Louisa Sophia, widow of Henrich Bachman. Their marriage is recorded in the Duttweiler (Bobingen) Reformed Church book. [1]

Jacob's wife Sophia Louisa was the daughter of Jost Bock, gardener at Ohfenbach am Mayn (63067 Offenbach am Main). On July 27, 1707 she married Henrich Bachman, a widower at Duttweiler, in the Duttweiler Reformed Church. Henrich died on May 21, 1714, age 31 and was buried May 22, 1714. [2]

Sophia's son with Henrich, John Henrich, born September 7, 1712, was also on the Snow Luther in 1731 with his mother and stepfather, and later appears in the records of Casper Stoever, Muddy Creek Reformed, and Swatara Reformed. [3]

In 1731, Jacob and Sophia Brunner left Duttweiler for Pennsylvania, arriving in Philadelphia on the snow Lowther. [4]

On May 19, 1743 Hans Jacob Brunner, elder, and Gorg Brunner signed the Reformed Church Doctrine at Muddy Creek Reformed Church, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [5]

Jacob Brunner passed away in 1763. [6]

Research Notes

There is a lot more information regarding Jacob and his children in Palatine Origins.

...

Another man, Johann Jacob Brunner (1703-1783), from Schifferstadt, arrived in Philadelphia on the Mortonhouse in 1728. His wife was Maria Barbara (Sturm) Brunner (1702-abt.1761) and they settled in the Monocacy Valley, Frederick, Maryland. [7]
