Biography

Margaret Buchanan was born in 1719 in Scotland. Her parents were John Buchanan and Janet Stewart. [1]

She married Major Charles Campbell in Augusta, VA in 1743.

They had children:
William Campbell
Elizabeth Campbell (Taylor) (1747-1828)
Jane "Jean" Campbell (Tate)
Margaret Campbell (Campbell)
Ann Campbell (Poston) (1760 - 1796)

Margaret passed away in 1777 and was buried in the Aspenvale Cemetery, Seven Mile Ford, Smyth County, Virginia, USA [2]

4 Jul 1784: Arthur Campbell sole surviving Executor of Margaret Campbell who was the Sole Executor of Charles Campbell deceased late of the County of Augusta to Rudolph Haupe of the County aforesaid in consideration of the sum of £264 current money of Virginia a certain tract of land containing 300 acres, 200 acres of which being part of a tract of land lying near the head of of the South River in Augusta County and part of a tract of land of 514 acres conveyed by William Beverly Esq to Charles Campbell and the remaining 100 acres being a tract of Land adjoining the aforesaid tract and granted to Charles Campbell by Letters Patent date the 5 Mar 1747. [3]

1 Jul 1786: Arthur Campbell Executor of Margaret Campbell deceased of Washington County to John Hays of Montgomery County in consideration of the sum of £120 current money of Virginia a tract of land containing 220 acres a tract called Buffalo Bottem lying in the said County of Montgomery on the North Branch of the Indian River otherwise called Holstein which was first granted to Charles Campbell by patent bearing the date 22 Aug 1753. [4]
