From the pages of Richard Joseph Bucknum at https://www.genealogy.com/ftm/b/u/c/Richard-Bucknam/GENE16-0005.html ***An anomolie exists in the birth info of the first three children and the marriage date. The birth date cited by Reuben in his application is only 6 months after the marriage and is a month after the death of his sister. Since the record only states that she was a daughter indicates that she died at birth. I believe that Reuben may have mistated the year that he was born in order to enlist at the age of 16, considering the date of his baptism and the date of his sisters death. Joseph, Athol, served as a Sergeant in Captain Thomas Lord's Company of Colonel Nathan Sparhawk's Regiment from August 21, to Aug. 26, 1777 and marched from Athol to Bennington, VT. He also served as a Sergeant in Captain Ephraim Stearns's Company of Colonel Ezra Wood's Regiment from May 27, 1778 to October 5, 1778 at the defence of North River. On December 24, 1773 Joseph Buckman sold to his brother Amos Buckman their father's homestead in Athol. Acknowledged by Joseph and his wife, Mary (this was probably Joseph Sr and Mary (Legro)) on March 23, 1774 and recorded January 9, 1782. On December 30, 1787 Joseph Buckman purchased 100 A. in Lunenburgh, VT for £30. In 1790 Joseph Buckman was living at Lunenburgh, VT, along with 1 male over 16y & 4 females (This household would be consistent with Joseph, Sr, his wife, daughter Hannah, son Asa, his wife and daughter). In 1791 Joseph Buckman and his son Abner swapped a 5 A. parcel of land. On February 10, 1795 Joseph Buckman sold to his brother Jacob Buckman all of his land. In 1800 Joseph Buckman was listed as head of household in Lemington, VT. Joseph Buckman, Jr. died at the home of his son, Dr. Amasa Bucknum, in Dutchess County, NY on September 10, 1805.***

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:

Bucknum-1 and Buckman-662 are not ready to be merged because: More information needed to confirm that these are the same, and that its not two separate people, sharing some facts. LNAB is also still in question.
