Jacob Buijs (1888 - 1960)

Biography

• Jacob or Jaap Buijs was an active resitsance fighter in WW-II. He worked closely with Wally van Hall at the Nationale Steunfonds/National Support Fund, both living in Zaandam. They became very close.
• He was arrested during a meeting with various resistance leaders, when the SS made a raid.
• By coincidence Wally is locked up in the cell in prison, next to Jacob's, they communicate by knocking. They shared, in seperate cells the last days of Wally's live.
• Jaap is one of the last men freed from the prison, in bad condition and starved, but free in May 1945.
• He will never get over the death of Wally.^[1]
