Biography

Nicolas Burgun has French origins.

Maître verrier et chantre : hüttenmeister Kirchenschöffe

Birth, Marriage, and Death locations are either Meisenthal or Soucht. The church for Meisenthal was located in Soucht. Some records cite one location vs the other. They are about 2 miles apart. June Smyh notes show birth in Meisenthal see attached image but there is no record in Soucht book that validates her notes in Soucht book it shows him as born July 1, 1743 Meisenthal/Soucht family 423. soucht is created from church records on site

The death date has multiple years depending on the source. Many sources do not have one. Joseph Conrad in his Montrbronn book on page 45 entry 2.3 says avant 1766 which means before 1766. June Smythe resource page shows a hyphen 1757 which is before 1766. We believe both Joseph and June used available local records. More research needs to be done to determine which date is more likely. We chose to go with 1766 so we know to backtrack from that date.

Burgun-42 and Burgun-10 are not ready to be merged because: There are differences that need to be addressed before the merge is done. Dates are different on more than one source. I have the actual records from Soucht and he is not in them. This needs more research.

Burgun-42 and Burgun-10 appear to represent the same person because: Laura, I think we have a duplicate for Jean Nicolas. I was looking at the Montbronn page 45, B.101/1.1 children for Sebastien Burgun and Marie-Anne Stenger , it shows 6 children, no birth dates #2 Jean Nicolas shows married to Feisthauer, #4 Jean-Martin also married to a Feisthauer. and showing #5 Jean-Nicolas Burgun married to Barbe Walter. Same marriage date of Sept. 23, 1720. The birthdate you have is 1693 compared to avant 1700 as shown on pg 45. B.101./2.3. Take a look and see what you think.
