- Noted statuesque opera singer with an ethereal voice[1]
- Won several Grammy Awards for her opera recordings in 1968, 1974, and 1975.[2] She was first nominated for two awards in 1966. She was also nominated in 1988, and in 2003.[2]
- 1992 performed "Barcelona", a duet with Queen's Freddy Mercury at the Olympics in Spain.[3][4]
