Revolutionary War reference to Cane, Joshua. He was the son of Joshua Cane, who took up a settler's lot in 1739. After his father's death, and mother's second marriage, he moved to Wells. Though his name appears among Sanford names on a muster-roll of 1778, he lived in Wells in November of that year. page 74 History of Sanford.
