Biography

Thomas Carter was born between 1760 and 1770, in North Carolina and was living in the Wilmington District of North Carolina, at the time of the American Revolutionary War. Thomas was the husband of Celia Ann McDonald and they resided in Perry County, Mississippi. Their son, Daniel Carter married Demaris Chadwick. Thomas died after 1830, in Perry County, Mississippi. ^[1]

Thomas Carter, who was one of the first settlers of Perry county, Miss., as was also his brother Isaac, both having taken up their residence in said county about 1814.^[2]

Thomas Carter who died in Perry County has been confused with Thomas Carter, who died in February 1855, in Copiah County, Mississippi. Part of the confusion is met with the Find A Grave memorial for THAT Thomas Carter which claims that he was the husband of Celia McDonald and Susannah Winn.
