Spalford is a hamlet in the north-east tip of Nottinghamshire right on the border with Lincolnshire. The hamlet was originally called Spaldeford, the ford over the river Spelde. The river Spelde is now no more than a drainage ditch, but still forms the border between Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
As far as the local inhabitants are concerned, their parish church is St George the Martyr in North Clifton, despite the Church of England believing that Spalford more properly belongs with St Cecilia in Girton.
The individuals listed below are recorded as being born in Spalford. Not those who moved into the hamlet, or passed away there.
