When Smith was about 26 he married in about 1802 in Burke, North Carolina, USA.[4]
In the 1810 census Smith (age about 34) was living in Morganton, Burke, North Carolina, USA.[5]
In the 1820 census Smith (age about 44) was living in Burke, North Carolina, USA.[6]
In the 1830 census Smith (age about 54) was living in Burke, North Carolina, USA.[7]
Anna Boone married William Coffey. Tradition was she was married in a log cabin which formerly stood on the site of the present residence of Joseph Hardin, a mile or more east of Boone, NC. Anna Boone was the sister of Hannah Boone, both daughters of Jesse Boone Sr, son of Israel Boone who was a brother of Daniel Boone. Both Daniel and Israel were sons of Squire Boone 1 and Sarah Jarman Morgan. Hannah Boone married Smith W. Coffey, grandfather of Smith Coffey of Kelsey Post Office.
Lawrence H. Coffey born 23 Dec 1875 on Mulberry Creek, two miles east of Collettsville, in Caldwell County, NC. He received a common school education in various county schools near home and in Lenoir. He kept a country store and post office at Collettsville between 1892 and 1897. With his father he farmed the home place for several years there-after. He attended the Medical College of Virginia at Richmond 1902-1906. Practiced medicine in Caldwell County 1906-1922. Served as County Health Officer and Quarantine Officer 1915-1922. On Caldwell Conty Exemption Board as examiner during period of WW I. He lived in Lenoir 1911-1922 and Lakeland, Fl 1922-1929 and returned to Lenoir in 1929. Both Hannah and Anna and their husbands are buried in the Moore-Coffey Cemetery (aka Rufus Cemetery) located on Wiley Moore Farm in a cow pasture in the Mulberry Section of Caldwell County, about 1/2 mile from Rufus, NC.
Smith W. Coffey was the last child of Thomas Coffey Sr and his 1st wife Elizabeth Smith (married in 1762) before she died in 1776. William Smith was his half brother (1 of 12 children) of his father's 2nd wife Sarah (Sally) Fields (1750-1828) married in 1776.
