Biography

William J. COLE was born about 1828 in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, probably in Sugarloaf Township. He appears to be living with brother Alexander & sister Sarah COLE in Sugarloaf, Columbia County, Pennsylvania in 1850.

Sometime between 1850 to 1852, he married Emily J. MASTELLER (many surname variations).

On the 1880 Census for Davidson, Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, USA, his marital status is marked as "widower," although this is probably just a mis-marked column as his wife, Emily, is listed below him as "Wife."

He probably died in either Columbia County or Sullivan County, Pennsylvania. Both William and Emily are living in Davidson Township, Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, in the 1880 Census. He is buried in St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Cole's Creek, Sugarloaf Township, Columbia County, Pennsylvania.
