Biography
Children: Kornelis (1683), Grietje (1685), Femmigjen (1687), Geesjen (1688). Baptism records are missing between 1668 and 1687. Jan's children would have been born around the end of this time.
Jan's name isn't given in the baptism record: he is just called "kint" (child).
Jan Cornelis Drok is listed as one of 4 people making profession of faith in Giethoorn sometime between 1669 and 1686 (the years not recorded for Giethoorn) in a special note in the membership registers. His death date is listed with a note saying he was 80 years old when he died, putting his birth date around 1652. No jans were baptized by a Cornelis in the ten years around that, but there was one Cornelijs Jans who on Oct 13 1652 baptized a "kint" (child). This was most likely our Jan.
In the 1675 hoofdgelt, Jan Cornelis is listed as a pauper, with 2 adults in his household. His father Cornelis is not listed in the any 1675 list, so he must have died before this. In the 1675 Vuurstedengeld, Jan Cornelijs lived in the Suider Kluft. Apparently he had no chimney or oven. There were 2 men named Jan Cornelis in the 1682 Vuurstedengeld. One had died (his widow is actually listed) and the other has no special notes by him. Jan Cornelis, a pauper, is listed as living in Duijnsater Cluft in Giethoorn in the 1693 Zoutgeld, not paying anything. Jan Drok is listed in the same place in the 1701 Zoutgeld, paying 10 stuivers like his neighbors. In 1726 Jan Cnelis lived in the same house where he lived in 1682.
