Private Andrew Crawford served with Pennsylvania Militia during the American Revolution.
Andrew Crawford is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A027570.
Andrew Crawford was born in 1740 in Nottingham, Chester, Pennsylvania. His parents were James Crawford (1701 - 1749) and Mary (Crawdoe) Crawford (1710 - 1763).
Per De Beers Biographical sketch information on son James' FindAGrave, his father Andrew was from Ireland. This information was published in 1893, almost 100 years after Andrew died, so possibly was incorrect. It is possible that the birth location here is incorrect. De Beers is also listed as source S31 on this profile, referencing page 639, and the text "died from the effects of a copperhead snake bite."
Followup - It actually starts by speaking of this Andrew, and says "his (meaning Andrew's) grandfather, Andrew Crawford, is supposed to have emigrated from Ireland. However that may be, it is certain that this ancestor came to Washington county, Penn., prior to 1783, and located on the farm in North Strabane township that is yet owned by his descendants. In the same year he received a patent for 415 3/8 acres of land, giving in payment 9 [pounds], 4 [shillings], 2 [pence] in Pennsylvania currency".
This gives us a name for James' father, which was previously unknown, and a patent to search for, in addition to an origin of Ireland to search for.
