Biography

Adele Crockett was likely born 5 October 1861 in Nassau, Bahamas to William Crockett, mariner, and Diana/Draci Barton. The unnamed daughter born on this date is presumed to be Adele - and not her sister Mary Catherine.

Adele Crockett married Alexander Bain II, son of Alexander Bain and Heddy/Hester Plummer, 9 August 1883 in Manhattan, New York. They had children - among them Edward Alexander Bain, born in 1886, Frances Adele Bain, born in 1887, and Henry M Bain, born in 1889.

Charles Irving and Adele had daughters Jennie Margaret, Daisy, and Maud/Marion Irving.

Adele had a son with Thomas Albert Roker (1869-1954), son of Thomas Roker and Eliza Hudson Roker, that they called John Alphonso Roker. It is not clear from the birth record of Lorenzo Albert Roker, born 1901, if he was, in fact, the son of Thomas Albert Roker. He was given his surname.

Adele Irving and her daughters - Frances Bain, Jennie Irving, Daisy Irving, and Maud/Marion Irving - arrived in New York City aboard the SS "Saratoga" 25 June 1905 to visit Ernest Seymour and Mary Catherine Crockett Seymour, her brother-in-law and sister.

One week later, 2 July 1905, Adele Crockett Bain Irving died in Yonkers, New York and was buried there in Oakland Cemetery.

Adele was likely born 5 October 1861 - as an 1861 birth record indicates an unnamed female was born to William Crockett and D. Barton in the parish of St. Agnes, Nassau. Her headstone is carved with a birth date of "5 October 1863". This day and month appear on the 1861 birth certificate. The year, however, is different.
