Benjamin died the following year in 25 March 1869. Barbara his 2nd wife applied for and received an $8.00 widow's pension for widows of veterans of the War of 1812. She made her application in 1878 in Yellow Bell, Kentucky, and received her first check in January 1882, in Jacksboro, Tennessee.
