Biography

Mary was born in 1828. She was the daughter of William Dalton and Mary Polly Jones. In 1846 Mary Jane married Walker Smith and together they were parents of thirteen children.

1. Charlotte 'Lottie' Elizabeth Smith was born 11 May 1864 in Rockingham, North Carolina.^[1]
2. Louisa Frances Smith, was born 1861 in Rockingham County, North Carolina.^[2]

They resided in Stoneville, North Carolina where Mary Jane passed away in 1898 at age 70.
