Biography

Allen was born on March 7, 1947, in Austin Minnesota. He was the son of Lyall E Danley and Anne E Danley. He grew up on a 20 acre hobby farm 7 miles West of Austin. Allen's siblings are his sister Sherrill and brother Harold. Allen graduated at Austin Central high school in 1965 and went to Alexandria Technical College in1966. In 1967 he worked at Litton Industries in Minneapolis as a mechanical designer and draftsman and was awarded several patents related to microwave ovens. In 1972, he then worked at 3M in St Paul (as a contract designer with Dacon Engineering, and placed with 3M). Allen then moved to Los Gatos California in 1975 and worked at Gerling Moore as a design manager and developed a commercial microwave oven and in charge of a design team for a microwave oven development for Hardwick Stove (now Magic Chef) company in TN. As part of the contract division at Gerling Moore, he developed a microwave oven turntable on a contract with Plastics Inc. in St Paul, MN. As result of restructuring at Gerling Moore, Plastics Inc hired Allen to continue the development of the microwave turntable project, and Allen and his family moved to Minnesota in 1978. During his tenure at Plastics Inc and Anchor Hocking he was awarded several more patents and was in charged of development and manufacture of several microwave turntable designs, mechanical spring driven, a battery powered version and a cord power connector to the microwave oven, Allen setup several manufacturing sources in MN and also developed off shore sources to import product from Hong Kong and Korea. As in charge of the design team, he and his team developed dozens of microwave accessories. As result of the Newell acquisition in 1990, Allen moved on to work at Plastic Products as a Sales Engineer, developing new business for their injection molding operation. In 1993, Allen went to Empak as a Sales Manager to develop new injection molding business for a newly setup division. In 1997, Allen and his family moved to Wooster, OH. as Allen accepted a position at Rubbermaid as a Design Manager for the Housewares team. He developed consumer water pitcher filtration product. In 1999, as result of Newell's acquisition of Rubbermaid, there were company cutbacks, and Allen moved to Millville NJ in 2000 for Wheaton. Allen was a Project Manager developing injection blow molding products for customers such as Gillette, Revlon, etc and also coordinated product manufacturing with several overseas plants at Wheaton facilities in Sao Paulo and England. As result of the Wheaton acquisition by Alcan in 2003, Allen accepted a Manager position of Consolidated Container Corp in Atlanta GA. He worked with Consolidated to develop blow molded products for key customers, such as Scotts Chemical, Unilever (and 7th Generation) laundry products, Nestle Coffeemate container and Purina dog food container as well as various customers with milk jugs. Allen was in a charge of a million dollar injection blow molding (Aoki) machine and molds that were made in Northern Japan, in brought over and setup at the CCC plant in Atlanta. Allen retired in 2015, and lives in Gainesville, GA. As Allen started working in 1960 as a farm hand after school, and his career started in 1968, that was 55 years of working in various fields.

Hello everyone, I would like to find out where John Danley, sr and his father, mother, etc came from, possibly in the 1700's. We believe it may be Ireland or Scotland. Appreciate any new findings.
