Laura and her family made their home in Civil District 12, farming.[3] By 1910, they lived in Collinwood, Tennessee.[4] Widowed in 1917, Laura and her children lived in Collinwood, supported in main by her oldest son, Harrison, who worked on his own account as a grocer.[5] Her other children, but for the two youngest, who had not yet reached the age of 10, worked on the farm as farm laborers and farm helpers.
Laura Gambrell passed away at home, in Iron City, Tennessee,[6] at the age of 76 and is buried at Bethlehem Cemetery in Wayne County, Tennessee.[7]
