Biography

The daughter of William Jordan Darnell (1842-1923) and Mary Elizabeth Luker (1844-1919), Hattie Darnell was born in Wayne County, Tennessee^{[citation needed]} in 1886, residing with her family in Civil District 12.^[1][2] Her siblings included:

3. George W. Darnell (1868-1939)
4. Laura Huldah Darnell (1871-1948)
5. William Jordan Darnell, Jr. (1872-1956)
6. Thomas Howard Darnell (1875-1951)
7. Ananaias Darnell (1879-1958)
8. Garfield Robert Darnell (1881-1947)
9. Mary A. Darnell (1884-1961)

Hattie Darnell married John Luker, who was recently widowed with three young children, marrying in Wayne County, Tennessee on June 2, 1912^[3] and having seven children of their own, including a son who was stillborn in 1921:

2. Icy Marie Luker (1916-1942)
3. Lelon Luker (1918-1992)
4. Willodean Luker (1921-1963)
5. Infant Son Luker (1921-1921)
6. Neely George Luker (1923-1979)

They made their home in Wayne County's Civil District 8, farming.^[4][5][6] Her husband noted on the 1950 federal census enumeration that he was no longer able to work;^[7] income was brought in by their two adult sons, Neely and Lelon, who worked as farm laborers.

Hattie Luker passed away in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee^[8] at the age of 73. Her husband his first wife are buried at Bethlehem Cemetery in Wayne County but no record is found of Hattie Luker's burial.
