David De Morest and Lena Voorhees were married on 6 December 1760 at Schraalenburgh, New Jersey. She apparently was not his first wife, as the church record of the marriage indicates that both David and Lena were widowed.[2][3]

His tombstone is inscribed:

“IN MEMORY * of * DAVID DEMAREE sny * He was born in the * East of New jer sey * bergen county in * November AD 1731 and * departed this Life * in November AD 1808 * Aged 77 years * (epitaph) And now I add this lowlier * Spell * Sweet(s) to the passing Sweet fa(rewell!)”

The broken headstone to the right is inscribed: Stop Traveler as you pass by * As you are now so once was I * As I am now soon you shall be * Prepare your self to follow [me]”
