Biography

Joseph was a Friend (Quaker)

Joseph was born 24d 10m 1654 [24 Dec 1654].[1] He was the son of John and Elizabeth Dickinson.[1]

In his father's will dated 26 January 1680, Capt. John Dickinson gave Joseph the land and meadow which he had previously settled on, and named Joseph as one of his three overseers. Joseph was also to inherit the property that John Dickinson gave to Joseph's brother Jabez Dickinson, who was incapable of caring for himself, and who was to make his home with Joseph and his family as long as he wished.

On the 9th of January 1785 the Indian chiefs conveyed the residue of Matinecock, with some other lands, for the price of sixty pounds current merchantable pay, to Samuel Dickinson and Joseph Dickinson and a number of other gentlemen.

He possibly died in 1721 in Cedar Swamp, New York.
