Biography

Ann Dixon, daughter of Jane (Bilton) and Edward Dixon, was born on February 22, 1849 in Canada West (Ontario).[1][2] Her father was a farmer and their family was Wesleyan Methodists.[3] Ann's parents and her two older siblings, Hannah and Margaret, were born in England.[3]

Her mother died in 1860 of apoplexy at the age of 42.[3] As of the 1861 Census, Ann was 11 and living in a wood house in Markham with her father and siblings: Hannah (16), Margaret (13), William (9), Jane (7), Edward (5), and Mary (1).[3]

Ann married William Irwin on March 28, 1867 in York County, Ontario, Canada.[1][4]

They moved to the hamlet of Nashville in the Kleinburg area of Vaughan Township in about 1913.[2] Her husband, William, died in 1925.[1] Ann developed Parkinson's disease in the same year.[2]

Ann died at the age of 81 on July 30, 1930 in Nashville.[1][2] She was buried in Nashville Cemetery in Kleinburg, Ontario, on August 2, 1930.[1][2]
