Susannah Durfee was the fourth daughter of James Durfee and Mary (Burrington) Durfee. She was born on 18 February 1784.[1] [2] William Field Reed lists her as Lucy. This may have been a nickname?[3] She moved with her family to the Rhode Island Quarter of Madison, Madison, New York at some point between 1802 and 1804.
She married William Pitt Simmons in Madison, Madison, New York in 1804. She gave birth to eight children[2]. Sadly, in 1814 and 1815 two of her infant daughters passed away. At some point after 1818, she moved with her husband and young family to Michigan Territory. She also began using Lusannah as her first name.
She died in York, Washtenaw, Michigan on 5 June 1844.[2] and is buried in Milan, Washtenaw, Michigan.[4]
